ABOUT ME

My name is Elena Manova. I was born on the 15th of July of 1985 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

 

In my childhood, I studied in a college specialized in Latin languages and with the age of 18 I moved to Madrid, Spain to study a high degree of Advertising and Public Relations.

I´m totally in love with Spain and I have been living in its capital for almost 15 years. I feel like at home in Madrid and in Sofia as well.

 

MY ARTISTIC STYLE

My greatest and biggest passion is painting and it´s my best way to express what I feel and what I see around me. Painting is the best relaxing method for me and all my drawings are representation of my feelings, thoughts and reflections.

The artistic style which defines my drawings is the abstract expressionism and my favorite artist by who I´m trully inspired is Jackson Pollock- one of the most famous representatives of this artistic movement.

 

MY TECHNIQUE

I always paint on wide canvas and on the floor as I´m more at ease in this way. I feel nearer, more a part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting!

I use big brushes and sometimes my hands to apply the colors on the canvas. The intense and bright colors are my favorite ones and all my paintings have many sparkles and shadows where you can see many times some hidden forms and figures.

The dynamism, action and chaos are some of the most relevant features which characterize my paintings. If I have to define in only one sentence my artistic style, I´ll say that: “I´m just painting life”.
